Somali Parents Autism Network

The Somali Parents Autism Network (SPAN) was founded in 2014 by a group of Somali American immigrant parents with children diagnosed with autism. The mission of Somali Parents Autism Network (SPAN) is to educate and inform Somali families of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in Minnesota via outreach, education, and collaboration, for the purpose of connecting them with resources and services with the end goal of early intervention, and caregiver empowerment.

Our Approach

At Somali Parents Autism Network (SPAN), we believe in partnering with others to achieve our goals. We provide resources guide information, educational workshops, and advocacy for Somali families of children with ASD, as well as those outside the Somali community.

Our vision is to create a world where individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in the Somali community in Minnesota are not stigmatized and are fully embraced, understood, and empowered to reach their full potential.
